BURBANK, California: The Walt Disney Co. has announced that Susan Arnold will become the new board chairman, replacing long-time chairman Bob Iger.

Disney said that Arnold, who has sat on the company's board for 14 years and served as its independent lead director since 2018, will take over when Iger, who has served as chairman of the board since 2012, departs at the end of the year.

Arnold, who came to Disney from private-equity company the Carlyle Group, where she worked as an operating executive from 2013 to 2021, served as President of Global Business Units at Procter and Gamble from 2007 to 2009.

"Susan is an incredibly esteemed executive whose wealth of experience, unwavering integrity, and expert judgment have been invaluable to the company since she first joined the Board in 2007," Iger said in a statement.

"Having most recently served as independent lead director, Susan is the perfect choice for chairman of the board, and I am confident the company is well-positioned for continued success under her guidance and leadership," he added.
